As I heared this is a big and common problem for SP2 users.

After I instaled windows XP, I became unable to download any new
program from the internet. I also couldn't update my windows XP
because I always get message that I don't have the permission to do
that. Simply, it means that I am not recognized as an administrator
but actually I am. this is my home computer and i am the only user.
I even re-instaled Windows XP twice but the problem is still there.

I did sent an email to the customer service of microsoft but I didn't
get good solution.

A friend of mine told me that someone have posted the full solution
for this problem here but I couldn't find it. I searched for weeks
without any sucess.

Any Help

Or the message might mean that a member of the administrators group does not
have permission to write to wherever it needs to.

Very helpfull, ...not!

First off, it is not a common problem with SP2 users. Try deleting all users
and recreate them in control panel --users.

Thank you for replying.

I did tht already but it didn't work.

Try logging off and then log on with your administrator Password and see
whether that works.
Good luck

Are you logging onto an account that is and Administrator account? It sounds
like you are logging onto a Limited account or the Guest Account.
Restart the computer and as it is starting keep tapping the F8 key. You
should get a black menu screen. You will have no mouse support so use the
arrows to select the option to start in Safe Mode. At the log on screen you
will have mouse support again select Administrator. There is no password.
Once at the Desktop go to Start->Settings->Control Panel-> User Accounts and
create a new account and make it and Administrator account or change the
account type of your current account to Administrator. Restart the computer
normally and you should get in with full command of your system.

I am logging in as an administrator. I even tried to update my
windows using the safe mode but it didn't work. I created new
accounts with administrator priviliges but still not working.

Do not create with administrator privileges. Create as administrator.
