Hi everybody,

I have small network which was consisted from two small subnets. Every
subnet (every branch) has a DC. When I created my AD's first DC, I have
installed my second DC with dcpromo /adv option from my system state
backup. But I forgot to setup a DNS server.

My second DC's install was pretty good. I dont see any error in logs.
But it dont have a DNS server in second DC.

What should I do to have a AD integrated DNS server on my second DC ? I
installed DNS service but AD zones have not appeared.

Anybody can help me please ?

Best regards.

Just install DNS and add the same zones as on the first DC as AD Integrated.
Windows takes care of all the details.

- Go to DC1 and make the Dns zone Ad Integrated.
- Right Click Forward zone -> Choose Properties -> Select pause -> Select
change Type - > Select Store the Zone in AD.
Now you should set Dynamic updates to -> Secure only (to improve Security,
in this way only AD clients will be able to register in Dns).
- If you have Reverse Lookup Zones you can Do the same there.

Make Sure that replication is working, you can temp. make the primary dns
server under Nic Properties on DC2 to point to DC1 then Force replication on
Dssites or using Repadmin, etc. Wait a little (depends on information
quantity) and refresh Dns on DC2, when you see the DNS zone on your DC2 than
point the Primary Dns Server on DC2 Nic to itself only.
