I have Windows XP Home Edition. I am now experiencing a severe lack of
speed when I click on a drive (eg: main drive C:) to look at files
etc. In fact all movement just stops and also when I change from drive
to another which usually ends up in a freeze of that particular
window. I had a return note from Windows telling me that I have a
problem with Windows Explorer. Any help with this will be gratefully
accepted. TIA

Have a look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for
Errors and Warnings and post copies here. Don't post any more than 48
hours ago.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Gerry, thanks for that useful help. This is the results but have only
posted a sample of each "error" as there are too many to post all. The
one about "Blaze" is a DVD player (which I will get rid of & re-test)
is the most recurring error.

Gerry, I re-installed Windows XP (not a clean install). Now I just
have do a "Lazarus" on my programs. This usually sorts things out but
thanks for the tip concerning Event Viewer, especially how to copy
them. That's a new one on me. Thanks again for your help, Gerry.
