Hi, I have inherited a computer with Windows 2000 installed and I have
installed my Office 97 on it. I have no idea how to configure my pop3 email
as it is totally different. I have configured Outlook express OK but want to
use Outlook 97. I don't seem to have the same setup windows I'm familar
with. Your stumped

I have the settings, but I cannot find anywhere in the OL to add them. There
are references to Microsof Exchange and other such oddities and there doesn't
seem anywhere to place pop and smpt settings to link with my provider,
whereas in OE there are. I've looked around the microsoft help and even
tried Yahoo answers, but no-one can offer me the route to solve the problem.

Outlook 97 can't be used for sending messages with any current
security-conscious ISP. Many ISPs require authenticating to the outgoing
server when sending SMTP mail and Outlook 97 doesn't have that ability. You
can receive mail, but not send it.

If you do have one of the ISPs that allow non-authenticated SMTP
transmissions, you must add an Internet Mail account, either in
Tools>Accounts in Outook or in Control Panel>Mail.
