Hiyas. I recently got a new notebook, cause my desktop has a lot of
problems. The one problem it doesn't have is getting email through OE6.
When WE asked to setup my account, I entered the information, but I didn't
import all of my emails, because there's A LOT of them, and I'm keeping that
computer. I wanted to get my emails on the notebook, and I was getting a
few, but most of them was going onto my desktop, OE6. I tried closing OE6,
but that didn't work, so I changed the "send/receive emails" time to
something like 5 hours. I then tried logging off that identity. All of this
in OE6.

Ok. So now, in WE, I'm stuck receiving an email...been stuck for over a
day. How do I get rid of it? I've tried like everything I can think of and
I can't stop it.

For my other problem, within WE, I went to Identities, and it won't let me
create a new one or do anything. It says all have already been imported or
deleted (I was going to try deleting it and starting fresh, since I have so
few emails), and when I try to import from an existing Windows account, it
wants my notebook accounts.
So how do I start fresh?

Help!!! I know I'm making a mess of things. Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that you have your account set up on both machines and
receiving some of your mail on each one.

First note that mail does not GO to OE or WinMail. OE or WinMail Gets it,
but only when it's opened and it asks for it. If you don't open it it never
receives mail.

In both programs you can leave mail on the server for the other machine to
collect. On both machines go to Tools | Options | Advance and check the box
to leave a copy on the server and possibly to delete messages when they are
deleted from Deleted Items. On the machine where it's most important to
have all the mail, also check the box to delete after 5 days.

Thanks Frank, but now I'm confused. I see the deleted messages part, but not
a box for copying messages on the server. Here's what I see:

Contact Attachment Conversion, IMAP, Message Threads, Reply/Forward and
Windows Contacts.

Also, I'm still stuck in receiving that 1 email. it won't let me send or
receive anything while it's still downloading, and it's been stuck like that
for over a day now. How do I get out of it?

Thanks,
Carin

I don't know where you're seeing that unless it's an IMAP account, in which
case ignore everything I said.

Open the program (Outlook Express or Windows Mail).
Click Tools.
Click Accounts.
Click the account.
Click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click the box for "Leave a copy oc messages on the server".
Click both of the orher boxes and then make sure that you check email on
both machines at least every five days.
