I goofed!

Ok...not very computer literate and I tried to do something with my printer
and I really goofed.
Long story short...two printers HP & Lexmark hooked up to a w98 and
networking to an XP. Only one computer works on each even though they both
show up.

In my weak attempts (and no knowledge) I tried something on the HP and now I
made a big mistake. Somehow through the Help section I saw something about
disabling Bi Directional Communications and I unchecked that and now the
printer doesn;t work at all and keeps crashing my PC every time I use it. I
cannot find the box where I unchecked this...is there anyway to get it back?

Thanks so much
Jane

Hi Jane,

I found the following on the web but all my printers are USB so I can't
easily check it out for you....

Solution 3- Turn off bi-directional communications
If you are using the Microsoft print system drivers you may be able to use
the following procedure to disable bi-directional communications to the
printer.

1. Double-click on the My Computer icon then open the Printers
folder.

2. Right-click on the printer then select Properties.

3. From within the Properties screen, choose the Details tab.

4. Click on the Spool settings button.

5. Within the Spool settings screen click on Disable bi-directional
support for the printer.

6. Finally, choose OK.
