Beware of things which appear too good to be true. I just purchased
FP2003 Upgrade version for $99.99 at CompUSA. The full version of
FP2003 costs $199 there. It's obvious that something is wrong when you
can supposedly get a full version for $20 less than a legitimate
upgrade version in the box.
A common trick of hustlers is to copy a legitimate program (FP2003,
Word 2003) to CD-ROM and sell that to you without a box. When you
attempt to install the product, you learn that it doesn't include a
Microsoft product activation code. Without the code, you're up the
creek. If they do offer an activation code, it will be one already
registered to another person--usually, the hustler. If you try to use
it, Microsoft will come calling about fraudulent usage of its
activation code. And trying to get your money back is pretty a
hopeless endeavor.
I'd advise that you run the other way from the $79.99 offer.
