I was just reading a microsoft advice page about cleaning up XP in order to
make it run faster - to keep it running the way it was when first installed.
Well, there's a problem.
After I closed I-Ex I used Registry Mechanic to clean up the registry, which
the page advised (and it's something I do about once a week anyway), and the
usual crap came up - invalid shortcuts and the like. I also compacted the
registry (to save almost 2MB in the 19MB registry).
I restarted my machine, as usual and as directed, and when it came up again
I tried connecting to the Internet. I-Ex will not connect. The connection
(broadband) is valid and works fine, but Internet Explorer will not work no
matter what I try, even after undoing the compacting. And everything else is
apparently workiing fine.
Someone help, or I'm going to have to try Mozilla or something, and I'm not
particulary excited about that.
