I.E. Won't Start

I somehow corrupted my IE software so that it will not
start. Every time it try to start it I get the error
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem annd needs to
close". The error signature is as follows:
AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2600.0
ModName: winshow.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.1
Offset: 00002783

I had the problem originally in windows98 and recently did
an upgrade to windowsXP and still have the problem. I
tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and that
has not helped.

Any other suggestions?
