Is there no newsgroup yet about I.E.7. I would like to get familiar with the
problems related to it, before switching over. My son had ...I.E.7...
installed and his computer simply shut down.
Thanks for the info.

Running IE7 on 5 computers here..3 desktops and 2 notebooks, and not a
single issue on any of them.

As yet, Phil doesn't have a problem. Phil hasn't yet installed IE7.
Phil is worried. What's YOUR solution for Phil? Xanax?

Amazing how so many users commit major surgery on their setup and yet
never bother to save a disk image to restore.

I've tried IE7 on three machines...
it only worked well on one of them...

the good news was that the uninstall worked fine...
and the machines are back to IE6

be sure to set a restore point first...
just in case of problems

If your son "had" IE 7, then my first question would be are you talking
about a preview version or a finished version?

In any case, you probably can't draw any conclusions from what happened
there, and I'd say that even if you reported that he had no problems. If and
when you're ready to install IE7 I suggest you do two things
1) take a backup of your system first (again, you should do this before
making any major changes to your system)

2) follow the instructions microsoft provide *carefully*.

IE7 isn't a beta is it??

Secondly, AdAware's not been as nifty as it once was, but AVG and AdAware
have an upgrade out now. I had to switch to Spybot Search and Destroy,
because I found Spyblaster and Ad Aware was missing some important "files."
Not good for computers. :-))

Hertz, et al, what's your best suggestion for saving a disk image to
restore?

Its critically important that there's nothing that could be brought back
onto a new installation. I'm now in the process of backing up my documents,
and will then clean my HD due to some things that were missed by Spyblaster
and AdAware, and AVG, then re-install all the programs (just Windows takes a
long time). In my case, a "file" missed by Spyblaster or AdAware kept
emptying all of my Dragon profiles (hours and hours of dictation to train it
to my voice, since I am a blind user) and generally giving me a few fits now
and then. Every time I used Housecall, there was something nothing else
picked up.

I guess I could back things up on my Hushmail account. I'm only using 21% of
my C-drive (that's total usage), but my Windows Task Manager isn't showing
any numbers, most of the time--then there will be some, but five more
checks, and its dead--no info. Thus, the rationale for my actions--on this
new computer HP Invent business desk top computer. All of MS updates to
Windows, etc have been downloaded.

Thank you for your advice.

Use File and System Transfer to back up your settings. I use Norton Ghost
to do complete disk imaging on a regular basis. I image to an external hard
drive and to DVD.
