Hey Everyone,

I've got a Sony Vaio VGC-V3M and i've just bought a projector. I really want to be able to run my Vaio through my projector aswell as just Sky and my Xbox.

Ok so here's what ports my Vaio has:

And here's what my projector has:

And finally here's the full spec of my Vaio:

Will it be possible to connect them? Many thanks in advance :)

From what I can see I think it will BUT! wait untill someone like floppybootstomp comes on he is good at this sort of thing.

Ho and welcome to the forum:wave:

You need a S-VHS to composite adaptor

fairly easy to come by however the problem is when you come to audio aswell.

The problem is you only have one audio input which will cause problems connecting all of those items up unless you go via a small audio mixer

Your Laptop may have audio out via the S-VHS but I doubt it, it's usually separate connection

I have made leads up of this type before for my friend home entertainment system by using one S-VHS cable, a set of RCA/Composite leads and a length decent sheilded 8 core cable and spliced them together. It took about 40mins but unless your confident with soldering and knowing what your doing and where to get pinouts for these things you may be better buy something that will do the job

BTW FYI the Yellow RCA socket is Video, Red Audio right, White Audio left

Wow thanks for the reply.

The main reason i want to connect my vaio to the projector is for house parties and stuff so it would only be short term. So it wouldn't be a problem to have the video going to the projector and the audio coming out through my pc speakers. So basically i'd have my computer screen on at the same time as the projector screen but i'm just not sure how to get video from my vaio to the projector. I got confused as i could only see video input ports and none that were for outputs. and for some reason it hasn't got vga output.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated :)

Surely a single phono/RCA lead connecting yellow phono sockets would take care of video and a 3.5mm mini jack plug to 2 x phono plugs would handle the audio?

Looks simple to me.

Red and white phono plugs into Vaio and mini jack into projector.

Absolutely but tht all depends one where the laptop and projector are situated. I suppose I should have asked that first ;)

Thnx FBS

Cheers guys, i've got some cables coming in the post hopefully tomorrow so i'll have a little play and let you know how it goes.

So i tried today but couldn't get it to work. I just don't think my Vaio has a video output. I'm not sure but i think the yellow, red, white ports on the vaio are for video/audio input and not output?

You're right. In fact if you look at the picture you posted of the ports you can clearly make out the word 'input'.

oops :o

And this link Here confirms it.

I wonder if a USB connection would work?

Other than that I can't see a way :(

You could probably feed audio to the projector from the green audio out socket on the Vaio. A strange machine, that Vaio, I haven't seen it's like before.

I don't think that will work as the monitor is integrated with the PC so it doesn't have a normal DVI/VGA monitor connection between them as far as I can see.

I see theres an 'optical out' port in the right pic - what does that do?

I have no idea what that is/does :S Nothing in documentation about the ports
