After having installed iTunes i don't see the dvd and cd r/w anymore in
explorer and i can't use it anymore. The only solution is to reinstall
Windows. This happened already 2 times. Is there another way to solve this ?
Thanks

One file is an executable file and the other is a ZIP file, both are the same
fix..
If you don't have an app like WinZip or similar, get the EXE fix, run it by
clicking on it after it downloads to the desktop.. Your registry has already
been adversely affected evidently by iTunes, causing your optical drives to
disapear..The fix should repair only this problem in the registry and restore
the optical drives to the Explorer window, you may have to reboot the
computer..

Dont modify ur registry...theres a link on that page "Restore CD/DVD Drives
to Explorer"
click on that & it'll open a new page theres a small program
"XP_CD-DVD-Fix.exe"......it works

OK Snap, the little program didn't work, but i removed manually the 2
registry entries. XP recognizes the DVD/CD again and i can play on them.
However, the program i use to write DVD/CD (Record Now from Sony) does not
detect them ... suggestion ?

does any other program recoginze ur drives like Window Media Player?
Yes, WMP, iTunes recognizes the drives for reading. I'll try to burn cd's
with WMP. But i can't use WMP to make backups from my data ... or can i ?

U can just open cd from my computer Drag 'n drop ur data & simply click write
these files to the disk..............& For recordnow! go to their website

I'm very thankful for your continuous and helpful remarks, but installing
this update doesn't work because my system "does not satisfies minimm
requirements". It is XP, i'm admin. Could it be that "Your system must have
been configured originally with Sonic RecordNow" is not valid ? RecordNow IS
installed when i loaded XP for the first time from the master CD
