Ok I am trying to connect to a host over the internet using remote desktop.
The host is not on a router just cable modem. I am on the router but I am
having trouble connecting to the host. I have windows Xp pro by the way and
have turned off firewalls. Now I tried to connect using windows messenger so
me and the host could both be on (that is how it works right?) I know just
using the remote desktop feature locks the host machine. I don't know if I
need to forward any ports and I really don't know how to either if I have to
do it. What do I need to do?

Look at this page for help with Remote Desktop...

Note that using Messenger only works with Remote Assistance. So...are you interested in using Remote
Desktop or Remote Assistance?
