You know how it is with Microsoft software, it will work properly for ages
and then, suddenly, you'll get an error and however logically you reason
backwards to try and remember what caused the problem, you can't find a
definitive solution.
I've got a problem of this sort with Outlook Express which I am using to
read newsgroup posts.
Over the last few weeks I keep getting pestered by multiple posts within the
group alt.comp.freeware for some reason. I still get all the normal posts on
sensible topics from a variety of individuals, but strange rogue posts of an
entirely fatuous and irrelevant nature by an entity calling itself A. A.
Fussy keep appearing every day.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a possible cause? Would it perhaps
be a virus? I haven't heard of one with this name, though. I've updated my
virus definitions recently, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Could it possibly be that a freeware app I've installed has replaced an
important system file? I've checked for Fussy.dll but can't find an instance
of it.
I considered completely uninstalling Outlook Express and trying an
alternative newsreader but thought that was a bit extreme considering that
if that's not the problem, it nasty, whatever it is, could infect the
alternative newsreader as well, so I would be no further forward.
Here's hoping that someone with more determination than I have may have
found their way to a copy of a Fussy remover and can point me to it.
