How can I convert a picture slide show in power point to be able to view it
on my computer when I don't have power point? A friend helped me put together
a slide show for a celebration of my Mothers life after her death. I want to
make copies to send to all my relatives. Most do not have power point,
including me.
Please help.

I tried to down load what you suggested. It said "the download you requested
is not available".

Alternatively, download Microsoft Producer (free at the last count) and
convert the slides so they play in Internet Explorer.

If she doesn't have PowerPoint, Producer won't be of much use since it requires
that you have PowerPoint. The Viewer however will let her and her family view
the presentation.

Thank you all. Was able to download powerpoint viewer, send to my documents
and now hopefully I can burn copies for everyone.
Any idea if I can put the music we had for the celebration ( in mp3 format )

Put the MP3s in the same folder as your presentation (on the hard drive). Then
use Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from File to insert them in the
presentation. They will be linked, not embedded, so you'll need to include them
on the CD along with the PowerPoint Viewer files. For additional info, see:

Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or email a
presentation

If you want the sound to play throughout the presentation, see:

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)

I think you'll have to have the person who created the file use Sonia's
information for including the sound, as you'd need to have PowerPoint in
order to be able to incorporate the music.

Also, beware of copyright issues before you go including those sound files
on that CD....

While the suggestions offered will point you to the viewer download, you may
not be happy with the overall functionality of what you are manually trying
to put together.

It would be far, far superior to find a friend with PowerPoint 2003 and use
'Package for CD'. This will create an autorun show that anyone can play on
almost any computer by simply inserting the CD(regardless of if PowerPoint
is installed on that machine).

If none of your friends have PowerPoint 2003, then you can use one of the
earlier versions of PowerPoint and some advice from:
** Make an AutoRun CD
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00037.htm
to achieve the same results.

I'm sorry your Mother passed, but glad she lived a life worth celebrating,
