I have one computer with Vista and 2 with XP, when I go in network I only see
my computer and the router I can't see the 2 other computers. If I do a
search on the XP computers I can find the Vista computer but I cant see the
XP computers on Vista. Everything else is fine. What am I doing wrong ??
Thanks for your help

I believe that by default Vista sets your network to "Public". If you change
it to "Private" you should be able to see the entire network. Hope this
helps.

Thanks Lrod...... My network is set on private . .. I cant find where on
Vista you can search for a computer on the network, do you know ...Thanks

Hi...
I see my local computer, the gateway and internet. I noticed that there is 6
network connections I try to delete them but they are always there ??? Do you
know if there is a simple networking option like XP...? Thanks

Do you have your Vista box configured for the same network group name as
your other systems?

Vista defaults to a network workgroup name of 'Workgroup'

Sorry....what do you mean by Vista box? My workgroup have the same name for
all computers...Thanks

Vista box - The pc you are running Vista on.

Is, "Discovery and Sharing" turned on or "Allowed" in the Network Center???
Since you said you could see the Vista box from your XP machines I have to
assume that you have some security setting blocking you from viewing your XP
boxes in Vista.

Hi
when you set up your network on XP you gave the network a name either
"OFFICE or MSHOME" you need to make sure that your Workgroup on the Vista
machine is the same as the one on the laptop running XP. If these match
everything should show up.

I had the same issue with a complete wipe of hard drive, reinstall of XP in
one partition and Vista in another. I no longer could see the other computers
on my network. I went through all the sharing stuff and help files. Tonight,
I found the problem. I have a Netgear FR114P Cable/DSL ProSafe Firewall,
4-port switch. I logged onto my switch and wrote down all my settings for the
other computer IP and MAC addresses. When I logged off, lo and behold, Vista
now saw the other three computers on my network. I set my printer up for
sharing, went to my wife's machine, had her add a printer, found mine,
clicked ok, and printing nirvana.. it works.

Reiterate, it may only require, when not seeing other computers, is to log
onto your router or switch.
