I deleted all adjacent spaces in my frontpage website, thinking that this
would remove a lot of wasted space

However, this severely messed up the lines in html view - leaving long lines
a yard or so long.

Any ideas how I can recover from this?

Spaces? Do you mean "space" as in space-bar or "space" as in empty lines?

Are you using tables to do your layout out?

Can we see the URL for the "mess up" page(s)?

It might help explain what's going on.

Do you mean whitespace in code/html view?
In FP2003, switch to code view, right-click anywhere in the page, and
choose "Reformat HTML"

In FP2000, Tools->Page Options - HTML Source tab
Choose "Reformat using the rules below"
Check the rules place line breaks where you want them.
Click OK
Open and SAVE the page.

FP2002 is similar to FP2000
