I clicked a wrong button...am I destined to never use outlook now?

So I was trying to set up my new copy of Outlook 2007...I clicked on exchange
server instead of web based email system...now every time I open outlook it
says "cannot connect to exchange server" then it gives me the server
location and mailbox name, which I've tried to change...but then it just says
"cannot connect" and shuts down the whole program...how do I get back into
the setup page to fix my blunder?

I even tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but I guess that gets
saved? Wierd as all heck....Any help would be welcome....

Use the Mail applet in Control Panel to delete the Exchange account. This
way you don't have to try using Outlook which, you said, is crashing on you
so you cannot get into its Accounts to delete the bogus Exchange one.

(Please uses sentences instead of dragging out your thoughts using "..."
which is the equivalent of being nuisanced when someone speaks to with
constant run-on sentences interjected with "er", "um", "ahh").

So the stock answer given by the Microsoft "engineers" on the social forums
of creating a new mail profile IS unnecessary then?
 
Depends on how you look at it.

If you already had a working mail profile with some other accounts and you
added an Exchange account by mistake, then yes, I would say it is
unnecessary.

If you are setting up Outlook for the first time and chose the wrong account
type to begin with, then recreating the mail profile would be the best
approach since otherwise you would be repairing something that never worked
in the first place.

Haven't you noticed that is their stock answer for almost everything - and
yes, most of the time it will fix the problem but its often overkill. At
least they aren't suggesting format c:. :)

In this specific situation, it doesn't really matter either way.

Thanks - I suspect it's easier to tell the un-initiated how to remove and
create a new email account rather than a new profile and then connect an
existing pst file...
