I changed to a wireless keyboard and mouse. I was told that since my router
is still wired, I should not be concerned about security for the unwired
portion of my system.

Sincerely,

There are no security issues with a wireless keyboard or mouse, even
if you have a wireless router.

I'm probably in the minority, but I personally see no advantage to
having either a wireless keyboard or mouse. I don't want to move my
keyboard at all, and I want to move the mouse the minimum amount
necessary to make it work.

I just don't like the sound of the cable rustling on the table. And
believe me I can hear the swish swish of the cable. Thus wireless on
the desktop PC!

Even more so is the laptop. Its awkward to have a cable connected
sitting in an arm chair and even a dongle is bad, I fear breakage, so I
have bluetooth in the laptop and a bluetooth mouse.

Still they are everyones personal pleasure or displeasure for sure.
