Hi

This is a strange one. I can't view some content, specifically, I can't see
the detail on discussion groups. For exmaple I can view the thread summaries
but the actual comments box comes back blank. Obviously I'm not on that
machine right now.

The machine is standard XP. The issue happens on IE6 or IE7. I had upgraded
to IE7, had the issue, de-installed IE7, gone back to IE6, same issue, now
gone back to IE7, same issue !

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Properties.
On the advanced tab uncheck the option to "Enable third-party browsing
enhancements".

Hi Frank

Thanks for the response.
Remembering that I have gone back to IE7, I took what you said to mean
uncheck the option to "Enable third-party browsing extensions", as "Enable
third-party browsing enhancements" is not there. I did this, re-booted, still
no luck.

Any ideas? Thanks again.

Yes. I should learn to quit typing that from memory.

Then do a thorough malware check. Help with malware:

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for this info. I did the malware checks and it found some minor
issues but after a lengthy process asked me if I wanted to fix them...then
asked me for some money...so I quit.

Anyway, I did a clean install of IE7, upgraded to sp2 and all is well now.

Thank you again.

That was a piece of malware you checked with. Please go to one of the sites
I gave.
