I can't send/receive messages in my Windows Mail? Please help ASAP

Hello can anyone please help me figure out why i can't send/receive my email
messages? This was working just fine on Friday and now this morning I can't
recieve anything. The error message that I receive is:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'mail.vikoz.com', Server: 'mail.vikoz.com', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F

Can you someone please walk me through the setup process to fix this problem
as I need to have this working within a few hours for work.

If you use Norton or McAfee antivirus, try disabling the email scanning.
Many people have had to completely remove these and replace them with Avast
or AVG.

Are you using Norton or McAfee anti-virus?

If so uninstall them, they are NOT compatible.
Replace with Avast or AVG (turn email scanning off.)
 
I too had/have this problem. We have uninstalled Norton and installed
Avast. We also changed my email browser to Mozilla. Solved the problem for
1 day, now I can no longer receive incoming mail unless I login through
Verizon Central.

I do recall receiving updates to Windows just before this happened, could
this be the problem?
 
Not sure what you mean by "changed my my email browser to Mozilla."
Either you changed your browser to Mozilla Firefox or you changed
your email program to Mozilla Thunderbird (or both).
Unfortunately I'm not sufficiently acquainted with Thunderbird to
help you with that. I'm sure there is a Thunderbird forum someplace.
