Hello
My problem is: I cna't set users/gropus permisions from Windows 2003 AD
domain
to users/gropus from Windows NT 4.0 SP6 domain.
But I can easy operate from another NT 4.0 domain on rights of folder on
servers from this AD domain,
and on result of this I can see the proper rights + SID-converted user/grop
names on security tab of this folders.

Trusts are ok and verified.

Any suggestions?

Regards
Roman

Hi Roman-

Are you saying that the users and groups for the Windows 2000 domain appear
as SIDs on the NT4 domain when trying to edit NTFS permissions?

Hello.

Please ensure that name resolution (WINS) is working properly between the
domains and all of their clients. Do you experience the problem on the PDC
of the NT 4.0 domain? If not, then the clients in the NT domain do not have
proper name resolution (but the PDC does because it is needed to build the
trust).

I've got AD controller configured to use WINS server from the NT4 domain
(this one, which users I can't see on AD controlleers).
I can also browse folders shared on computers from NT4 domain.

So I think WINS works ok.

Does it make any deal that AD domain and NT4 domain
are both i different DNS domains? (i.e. ad.domain.com and
nt4.this.domain.com)

Hello.

I would recommend verifying the trust relationship and the health of NetBIOS
name resolution between the two domains:

and

If you want to rule-out WINS problems, you can implement an LMHOSTS file on
each domain controller to offer proper name resolution to create/verify the
trust:
