Hello everybody,

I am using Windows XP Professional and I suddenly got a
strange problem with my network connections. I use network
to get on line via DSL and I had several connections
installed. Suddenly the folder where all those are in has
been empty - I just dont see my network connections
anymore. Neither I can see that I am connected in my tool bar.

However I had made links to the connections and placed them
on my desktop. When I click them, I can still open and use
my connections, I just cant find them anymore and they
aren't shown in the folder anymore.

Do you have any idea how to fix this problem? It really
drives me mad! Thanks a LOT for your help!

Which folder are you referring to that has been emptied?
Did you have these Mapped as Network drives?
Seeing if you are connected or not: Are you talking about the network card
connection or the DSL connection?

Network Card: As far as seeing if you are connected or not, go to Network
Connections and right click the LAN connection. Select Properties. Make sure
that the option at the bottom of the window "Show icon notification....." is
checked. If it is, uncheck it, OK the window. Then reopen it and check it
again. OK the window.

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.
