I can't reinstall IE

IE was not displaying graphics. When I went to a web page all I would
see is a red X where the graphics should be. It was suggested that I
uninstall IE and reinstall it. When I try to install it again I
get......

Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already
installed on this system.
Setup cannot continue.

I went to Microsoft's web site and found this.....

I am not too good at modifying my registry, but as I understand the
instructions, I should search the registry for ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components

I should find an entry called IsInstalled and change the value from a 1
to a 0

I don't find this entry, and a friend has searched his XP computer
and didn't find the entry either.

How can I put IE back on my machine?

You found the wrong article... Go to this page for repair or
re-installation of IE: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378/EN-US/

You should go into the register and find the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

What to do is described in the article, on the bottom of that page.

yet. I can't find this entry.
