I can't read XP Home on Windows NT

Any idea why I can't read my word documents from windows
XP Home edition on my PC which is running on Windows NT?
Also, other people can't open my stuff.

Do you have Word installed on the NT machine? Is it a compatible
version?

I'm not too computer literate..

The operating system should make no difference, it's the program you use to
create the files, and what format you save them in. If, for example, you're
using Works, and you choose to save the files in the Works format, not many
people will be able to open them easily. You would need to save the files in
a format that is more universal.

I had this problem on one of my older computers. I found
out that the floppy disk drive was out of alignment. It
could write and it could read itself but could not read
floppies made on other computers, nor could they read my
floppies.
