i can't open the Active Directory administration tools

Hi, when i want to try to open any of the AD administration tools like AD Users and Computers, i recive the follow error
"Naming information cannot be located because this domain name was not validated because: WSAStartup cannot function at this time because the underlying system it uses to provide network services is currently unavailable"

This sounds like a problem with your TCP/IP, as WSAStartup function is a
call in Winsocket. Run netdiak on your server to check your network status.

Hello, You can see that the WINSOCK has been passed. But the DNS test has been pased with some warnings tha i can´s understand
I´m so preocupated because de DC discovery test and DC list test failed

well the name of the server contains _ which is invalid character. You would
be better off renaming the DC. If you have w2k then rename procedure
involves dmoting dc, renaming and promoting it again. If you have windows
server 2003 you can rename it on the fly.

hi, but how i can rename the server if I can´t open the AD tools i.e. Active Directory Domains and Trusts, Active Directory sites and services and Active Directory users and computers :-

You don't rename server trough ADUC but trough Control Panel/System/Computer
name.... (that is for windows server 2003)

If this is not your only DC, the you can demote DC using dcpromo command,
rename it and promote it again, but you have to be familiar with the
procedure and precausoins you must take before doing it.
