I can't open .ppt files with my new pp 2007 installation

I upgraded to Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 (student version) from Office
Professional 2000. I also upgrtaded Project 1998 to Project 2007 at the same
time. I want to open and download .ppt lessons, but unable to do so. I see
lots of help telling me that I can save new or already downloaded files as
older versions, but how I can I download and open an older version to pp2007?
