I can't open my old .pst: "is not a personal folders file"

When trying to open my saved Outlook Data File .pst, I always got the message
"The file C:\Documents and Settins\My Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Personal Folders(1).pst is not a personal folders
file."
I have several .pst files representing each folders I created for private
and professional purposes. I saved them on a DVD before formatting my hard
drive. Now that I reinstalled Outlook, I can't get access to these emails
anymore. The files are read only untick. Do you have any solution?

You can't access pst files on a CD/DVD - Outlook needs read/write access.
(UNLESS the CD is formatted for packet writing). You must copy the pst file
to your HDD and remove the "Read-Only" attribute. then you should be able to
open it.

And if you do what Gordon says and they still give you that message, the
method you used to copy them to thte DVD destroyed them beyond repair.
