I Can't open attachments. OE is removing them for security.

I am new at this game. I have got a email address at Virgin and use Outlook Express. 1st problem I am having is that I don't seem to be able to download emails unless I go through the newsgroups. It then asks me if I would like to set the outlook emails as my default I say yes and away we go. Any emails that then come through with attachments on are then rendered usless as I get a message saying that OE has removed them for security. Can anybody help me out please
I am sure it will be a relatively easy thing to do.

In OE 6 it's Tools - Options - Security and under Virus protection uncheck:

Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a
virus.

Oh and turn your freaking Word Wrap on.
 
Hi,

Goto Tools -> Options -> Then click on the Security tab
Now Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus"
Attachments that you could not save or open will now be available. This is a
new feature of Outlook Express 6 SP1.

Be careful. Some attachments really are dangerous and they may come from
someone you know, if that friend has a virus that sends dangerous email
attachments. You should save the attachment and then manually scan it with
an anti-virus tool before opening it.

So new you can't be bothered to use Google to see whether your question has
conceivably been asked before?! Of course not - you're just lazy! Suggest
you learn how to use http://groups.google.com. It will save you seeing this
message too many times in the future.

FYI, this question is asked almost hourly. Suggest you /do/ learn how to
search.
