I can't make new folders anymore in Vista! It's gone!

When you right click on a blank space in a folder window and point to New,
and then click on Folder to create a new folder in Vista, it will put a new
folder in that window so you can put your files in it.

But suddenly on mine, there's no "Folder" listed in the New menu! I can make
a new shortcut and other files, but Folder is gone. I don't know how to
bring it back! This happens in every window, even the desktop.

What can I do to bring it back? Is there a place in Vista where it could be
listed so I can copy it back from a friend's Vista PC?

Thank you very much, it has fixed the problem! I have tried searching myself
and couldn't find exactly what to look for. I'll remember "file association"
for next time!

Hi

Got exactly thye same problem, but Ramesh Srinivasan's solution does not
work for me.

Any other suggestions.

I've tried 1 System restore to go back 1 day and that diodn't help. Not sure
if I want to go back further at this stage, as I've just r-built my PC and
there's an awful lot of changes to do if I have to go back further.

Perhaps you can post the contents of the following registry here, so that one of us will do a comparison.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory

To export the key, open Regedit.exe and navigate to the above location. From the File menu, choose Export and save the branch to a .REG file. Edit the .REG file using Notepad. Copy/Paste the contents with your reply.

Thanks, but in the end, I went back to an earlier restore, and the problem
seems to have gone.
