I imported everything from my old Outlook to my new PC via a .pst file on a
flash drive. All the calendar and contacts show in the appropriate windows.
When I click on the Address book icon in a Mail message I get the following
message:
"The Address Book could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or
deleted, or you may not have permissions. For information on how to remove
this folderfrom the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook help."
I have selected the "Show this folder as an Email address book in the
properties window of the Contacts. I suspect that the problem lies in the
way that I imported the information via the .pst file movement, as I am not a
skilled user by any means. I also went from a Student version of Outlook to
Office Professional 2003 on the new PC. (Not an upgrade, a new software
purchase)
This one seems far out of my depths.

Bad move. Importing loses data and can break the association between the
Address Book and the Contacts folder.

Five seconds at the Microsoft Knowledge Base turn this up:

Thank you Brian. I am unfamiliar with how to search out error messages in
Help and found assistance here on a Publisher issue and was so happy that I
returned for this. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
