Every time I try to install Framework 2.0 a message appears, saying "Setup
cannot continue because this version ... is incompatible with a previously
installed one."
Well, I tried to get rid of the previous installed one by using the "Windows
Install Clean UP" and the ".NET Framework Setup Cleanup Utility", but it did
not work.
Hence, there is still one hotfix for FW 3.5 SP 1 in "Add or Remove
Programs": KB953595.
I just don't know, what I could do else. It's on Windows XP Professional
64-Bit. (I downloaded the right files, by the way!)

Thanks in advance!

HTH,
nass

Darn - I've got another problem.

I can install Framework 2.0 now and the language pack, too, but if I try to
install the SP 1, the setup only quits very quickly, only displaying "Setup
Error". Only option: Exit.
I already checked the registry for old entries, but I couldn't make out the
defect.

Make sure this machine is malware/virus free by scanning I mean full/thorough
scan!

Open a notepad and copy and paste the following into it and save as
update.bat on your desktop. Double click the bat file to excute and click
[Yes to register the dlls and reboot your machine and see if that will help!

regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll

Or try this fix.
Download Dial-a-Fix:
http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix
HTH,
nass

1) The file wuaueng1.dll missed, but I got it and then reregistered again.

2) I used dial-a-fix, but it couldn't access to three dlls (qmgrprxy, wups,
wups2), though they are there.

In summary, it unfortunately didn't work. I definitely start hating my pc. ;)

Can you please run this cleaning steps and then try the update.

Comodo BOClean : Anti-Malware Version 4.27

I've tried several of your programs (Not all of them support my OS) and
Adaware 2007 and Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0, too, but there was nothing
out of the ordinary.

I installed Windows Installer 4.5 recently - perhaps that is the point...
I'll try to reinstall it.
