I have installed ALOT of new fonts on here before but I can't now.

I get into the fonts folder (C:\WINDOWS\Fonts) and click on File but there isn't an option to "install new font".

If I drag and drop it wont work. I have tried looking through the folder options but haven't found anything that would stop me from doing it.

You removed the attributes from the folder.

type in start run

attrib -r -s -h %systemroot%\fonts

then

attrib +s %systemroot%\fonts

You can't set the READ ONLY bit in XP that way. It worked in earlier versions but not XP. Which is a pity.

Note the folder must be either system or read only. Prior to XP one could set the read only bit in explorer. However being able to set the system bit disappeared with Win 3.11.

So for 95/NT4/98/98SE can set the read only so it is easist to repair by setting the read only on these platforms. However XP can't do system or read only so one has to type in a command prompt and one might as well do the factory standard which is system rather than the non standard read only But both will fix..
