I have this really strange problem. From my desktop, I click on this link:
"I agree to the above notice and would like to download the Win2K/XP driver
(1.11.00.114 HF)"
The hyperlink for it is:
ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive/2kxp/2006/xp2k_111_00_114_hf_whql.exe
Which I know is supposed to open a box for a Save or Run option. But all it
does is time out and opens a web page with "Page cannot be displayed." When
I try to go to the ftp site from WS_FTP, it times out. When I type in
ftp.matrox.com from the run command my computer freezes.
Yet I can get to other FTP sites with no problems. For example. I can open
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ with no problems. I haven't been able to
find another ftp .exe link to test that, but I'm looking. I've also noticed
just surfing the net, I do get "page cannot be displayed" on some sites.
The link opens fine on my laptop as do all sites, so I know it's either
computer specific or firewall specific.
I opened my Cisco firewall wide open. Still no luck. So now I have to figure
it's PC specific.
I've pretty much put IE settings on low and tried everything w/those
settings. There's nothing in the restricted sites list nor do I have a host
file blocking anything (actually I do, but it's been renamed.) My virus
program has been disabled.
I think it's got to be some kind of security setting somewhere, but I'm
stumped.
