I can't dowload any programs from a cd

Please help. Everytime I try to download a progarm on my computer I get the
following error message;
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose close to terminate the application.
Even when I type command.com in the place where it says run it comes up with
that error message. Can someone please help fix this. I can't even download
my scanner software. Thank you.
