I just recently bought a notebook with Vista Home premium. My friend was the
one who installed the OS and typed her name. I know I can change the
administrator name through the control panel. However, when I try renaming
the user folder it tells me that I do not have permission to do it. Please
help me how I can change it to my name.

Thanks!

Hello,

Changing the name of your user folder is not supported because many
applications depend on the name of this folder not changing.

The user folder name at Computer > Local Disk (C:) > users
account_folder_name can’t be changed because that folder name is used in
too many Vista OS files. But you can change the account name at Control
Panel….User Accounts if you want to change the log-on name. The only known
easy solution is to create another user account with the desired folder name
and migrate all the settings and folders over to the new account.
