i cant add .txt to my media library

i just ugraded to xp from 98se. in 98 i could drag and
drop these files to the MP and it worked fine. now in xp
it will play them one at a time, but i cant add them to my
playlists or drag and drop them into now playing. WMP is
the only player that will play the file type .txt. All
the .txt files are located on my local d:\. If possible
can someone help please. Thank you.

How do you "play" a text file?
