i cannot send email PLEASE HELP!!!!

i have tried to send mail to friends, i have aol as my email and it is and
Imap incoming server and the server name is imap.aol.com
my omputer says that imap.aol.com doesn't have special folders that are
needed to send mail, but i can't seem to download them.
so when i tried to send a mail to my cuz, it said this-

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Hey Cuz ', Account:
'imap.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!
 
I have Incredimail under one login, but I use Windows Mail under another.
For some odd reason, everything in Windows Mail works just fine with the
exception of OUTGOING email ONLY. I hope you get some help with this too
because I too am interested in finding a resolution.

Hi Katie

I will say this first I know nothing about IMAP, only what I have learned
from Windows help

Have you got a Firewall, this could be blocking your access to the Aol's
server, just check that the server is on your approved list.

I was looking at Windows help, and the only thing it said about IMAP, was
that you had to setup the receiving folder in a specific location dependent
on whether Aol, was using a Cyrus or a UNIX server. It didn't say anything
about the smtp needing anything special.

It would help if you told us what type of mistake (wrong mail server name,
mistyped email address, etc.). Anyway, go to Tools > Accounts >
select the account > Properties. That will get you to the general area.
