Eric

I have selected file and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks, and share my
printer for public. My PC's IP is 192.168.10.10. When I type \\192.168.10.10
under window explorer, I still can see my shared printer drive. When I type
\\192.168.10.20, I can see other shared printer drive on my computer.
However, when I go to the PC \\192.168.10.20, I type \\192.168.10.10 under
window explorer, this IP address cannot be detected, of course, I cannot see
the shared printer drive too. I get no idea what it goes wrong on the
network.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
Eric

Check all / any firewall software settings and configur the allow exception
for "File/Printer sharing."

Check and make sure both PCs are part of the same workgroup / domain.

Check and make sure that both PC are correctly connected to the network.
(Check for Internet access.)

Check and make sure that user account from 192.168.10.20 exists also on other
PC.

I am having the same problem. I have two computers wired to a router, which
is wired to the satellite service modem. Both computers have access to the
internet. #1 can ping both the router and the other computer but can't
access the other computer (gets an error message that #2 is not
accessible---network path was not found) #2 can ping the router but not #1.
It also can see the other computer when you click on View the Workgroup but
gets the same error message if you click on the #1 computer.

I have checked the firewall settings (several times!) even changing the
file/print sharing to specifically allow the IP addresses of my router
(rather than the subnet mask). I also took the Windows Firewall off to see
if that would solve the problem. It did not. I have also a McAfee Firewall
installed. The Network Manager in McAfee sees and will work with the entire
system.

The workgroup shows up with both computers.

I have internet access with both computers.

How do I/what is: "Check and make sure that user account from 192.168.10.20
exists also on other PC." ????

Hi
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.
