Hi,

I have recently formatted my PC. Since then I have not
been able to get into standby mode. When I click
Start>Shutdown the standby option is faded out and I
cannot select it

Any ideas?

Thanks

Akhil

Hi Akhil,

It means one or more of your device drivers does not support the standby
function. As you just reinstalled, you are likely using default drivers and
need to update them to more recently released versions. Check the web sites
of the makers of your system hardware.

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your computer
or video card, search for Windows XP drivers, download and install them.

Thanks, I will see, and download them (nVidia and HP) and
see how it goes.

Would I need to download things for the graphics card?

Thanks

Akhil

Hi,

I have downloaded all the latest drivers for my nVidia
Ti4800 and I have downloaded ALL of Win Update (including
drivers etc) and the problem is still there.

I recently installed a new harddriv - Maxtor 80 gig
internal - could this have caused a problem? It didn't
come with any drivers etc?

Thanks for the help
Akhil

Hi,

Most definitely on the graphic card.
