I cannot browse with Internet Explorer without typing http://www in the address

I have a problem with Internet Explorer. It doesn't let
me browse the web without typing http://www in front of
the web pages I want to browse (hotmail, nba, etc.). I
used to browse the web noramlly before and now I can't.
What can I do???

Using Regedit, have a look at this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL

The correct settings should be as follows:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
Default ="http://"

Sub-key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]

"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Two files are available for download that should fix problems with the above
settings.

URL.ZIP (suitable for Windows 2000 and later)
URL98NT.ZIP (suitable for all operating systems)

Open the zip files, rename the file extension from txt to reg and you can
then merge the file with your registry.

Hi i have the same problem if you get a answer on how to
fix this plz mail it to me thnks.
 
Asked here.... Answered here. How will others benefit if you are supplied
with a private e-mail response? Also, incorrect answers can be checked by
others here in the newsgroup, and corrected if inaccurate.

BTW, It has *been answered* 4 days ago. Try clicking the little box next to
