Hi,

Since about last month I cannot do remote desktop to my home computer
anymore (Windows XP Pro SP2). I'm using Time-Warner cable service
connecting via Linksys router. I'm using a non-standard port, and that
port is forwarded to the computer in the router. I double checked the
private and public IP settings, firewall settings, port settings, and
everything looks fine.

Weird thing is, I cannot do RD from outside but I can do RD to outside
and do RD back to myself from the first RD session. What does this
tell?

Changes since the last month: Public IP, uninstallation of Zone Alarm,
constant updates from NOD32 (anti-virus)

Tried so far: Router firmware update, Crap Cleaner (for fixing
registry), MS Antispyware, adding RD as a service in the Internet
Gateway, router-modem-computer reset.

Private IP is the same, so I know router is forwarding the port to the
correct machine.

Any suggestions to troubleshoot this?

Thanks a bunch,

Deniz

If you run the http://www.canyouseeme.org test from the PC you want to
connect to does the test pass?

I tried again and it decided to work. The only thing I did was checking
if the PC is listening the port (netstat -a), and entering the router
settings page and resaving all the settings. Maybe it was a bug in
router software that was blocking the port despite the correct
settings.

Thanks for the page BTW, I will save it for the future.
