I can ping but not surt

I am able to ping Yahoo.com and others, but cannot open
any web pages, or access the web thru any other means, ie
Outlook, MSN8 or any other program. It appears that when
I type in an address in the address bar in IE6,
www.xyz.com for example, the bar on the bottom shows
www.www.xyz.com. Do I have a virus?

This is a new DSL service that I was able to use for a
couple days, then everything just stopped - I left the
room after an internet session, came back and could not
surf anymore. I use a Zyxel P645 modem.

Dherz,
Some program (usually spyware\parasite) may have overridden the URL prefix
setting?
Open Regedit to the following locations and verify the below default
entries:
Start | Run (type) "regedit" (no quotes)

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Note: edit as needed, *always* Export before editing.
