I can not uninstall IE 6.0 !! It does not show up in "add/remove programs"
and When I try to delete the file I get a message saying that it is being
used by another person or program. I have done a virus check and my computer
is virus free.

It seems very sluggish, especially when I first hit enter after typing in an
address. I have no clue what is going on. I also deleted spyware.

Any ideas?

Hi,
You cannot uninstall IE6 from Windows XP. It's rarely necessary to uninstall
IE6 from other versions of Windows.

The symptoms you describe indicate that IE needs some routine maintenance
such as clearing the cache, or that malware is still installed.

Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

See if you have programs running in the background that are interacting with
IE. If you don't use/need some of those programs, uninstall them.

Download and run CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot.

Hi gtcstorm :-)

Without knowing the version of windows you are using on the affected
machine, or the version of IE you are trying to upgrade from, which in this
case is very important information in order to determine the proper
solution, I would not want venture a guess.

Please post back with the above information then we can help you. :-)
