Hi
Just installed a new soundcard and when i went to set it up, it's all fine
until i try and select it in "audio" in control panel, sounds and audio
devices, where you are ment to select it is just grayed out for some reason,
any suggestions of what my problem is here?

Thanks

How do you know it's fine?

Need more details, like type of soundcard, how it was installed etc?

The card is a Winfast 4XSound, on the chip it has CMI 8738/PCI, HRTF AUDIO COM
I purchased the card yesterday under the condition it had no drivers, so i
downloaded them. After i got the drivers i put the sound card in my 5th pci
slot turned the computer back on, windows found it went through the new
hardware wizard all fine, but then when i went into the control panel,
sounds, speach and audio devices, clicked on the audio tab, I was not able to
change anything on that tab, yet if i went to hardware the soundcard was
there and appeared to be working fine.

Do you have on board sound? If you have, you must disable it in BIOS or
uninstall it. Also, try another PCI slot.
