I believe there is a bug in Powerpoint 2007 (and 2003). Please correct me if
I am wrong. I have created a simple custom presentation where I want the
first slide to reappear every other slide.

I did this by adding the first slide several times with the custom
presentation function and not by coping the actual slide several times. As I
want this presentation to play over and over again I have made shure the
presentation loops until Esc is pressed. However, when the last slide is
played it loops only between the first slide and the last and ignores the
rest. I see no reason for this at all.

The reason I want it to work this way is beacuse I want to change the
informaion on slide #1 only once and then have it reappear every other slide
in the presentation.

I am seeing the same strange behavior that you are. Here is a possible
workaround:

Set up two slide masters: your regular one and a special one for the
repeated slide. For the special one, put all the repeated content on the
slide master, rather than on the slide itself. Now, you can add a blank
slide to every other slide and associate that blank slide with your
special master. When you want to make changes, make them to the special
slide master, and all the slides associated with it will change. This
will take a small amount of work to set up, but it fills your need for
making it easy to make changes to the repeated slide.
