Hi,
I have Office 2003 with Business Contact Manager, and apparently I have a
version of SQL Server as a result. I think it's just the database engine as I
do not have tools like enterprise manager. I have 2 questions: 1) How do I
know it's up to date, and how do I get it to work with Access as the sample
under help in access would not access the database engine. I get an error
message stating it can't find the engine on my computer, yet I have an SQL
server folder. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,
If you have it, you'd have a service called MSSQLSERVER that would have to be running.
Check in your services applet to see if you have it.

I don't have that service, but I do have these two running:
MSSQLServerADHelper and MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM. I know the 2nd is for Business
Contact Manager. I saw the Database Engine or Server installer on the CD for
the engine, so I double clicked it and it created an install folder on my PC.
If I double click the installer there, it asked for a number or signed file,
which I do not have. Any ideas? (Now if I could get group policy's working
again, locals work, luckily I have both a hardware and software based
firewall running.

Thanks!

Howell

Hi,
I'm not familiar with BCM but I doubt that you have SQL Server running. At least not as something
you can use with Access. You can get msde, which is a scaled down version of SQL Server, for free
but it does not come with any client tools.
