i dont have a problem with deleting messages but I am unable to send anything
most of the time. If I leave the system on for 24 hours the message will
normaly go at some time.
Please help

if you are using port 25 for your smtp server settings, try using port 250,
or ask your email account provider for a port setting other than 25

Being a novice at all this I have no idea what port or how to change it.
Could you p[lease advice plus why does it work sometimes,

Big thanks

Port 25 is a default setting and sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

open Windows Mail
At the top go to TOOLS, go down and click ACCOUNTS, highlight the email
account you have a problem with and click PROPERTIES on the right.

The properties box will pop up, click the ADVANCED tab on the right, you'll
see the port settings, for SMTP try 250 and not 25.
If that doesn't work better, ask your email provider for the best port
setting or try find the info in their support section of their website.

Thanks Neil, Unfortunately did as you said but still no luck.

The connection to the server has failed. Subject '', Account:
'pop.orangehome.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.orangehome.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 250, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

This is the error i get but I can assure you that my connection has not
failed since I am receiving mail. Thanks

Open the properties page again, this time click the SERVERS tab and make sure
LOGON USING SECURE AUTHENTICATON is not ticked, then try port 25 and port 250
again

the pop3 and smtp server can be different yes, depends on your isp.

You seem to be getting as SSL error,
Go back to the properties and back to the ADVANCED tab, where you change the
port make sure the "THIS SERVER REQUIRES A SECURE CONNECTION" is not ticked.

You're sure you're username and password and the servers are correct?

Hve checked the tabs and nothing is ticked.

Thanks for all your effort

Do not advocate using non-standard ports such as '250'.
Only ports sanctioned by the specific ISP should be used.

If you are using either McAfee or Norton antivirus, uninstall them, then try
sending mail again.
Your ISP requires use of port 25.
By any chance are you using a laptop away from home?

Unable to un install norton but have been able to turn off outgoing email
scan but still no difference.
But thanks for your input

Many have reported here that Windows Mail didn't start working correctly
until Norton was completely uninstalled. If the furnished uninstall utility
does not work, you can get a special removal utility from Symantec's website.
