In July I upgraded to Office Professional 2007. While I was on vacation last
week my grandson used my old Office Professional 2000 disc on my computer. It
changed my email back to the older version. Now I am unable to get my email
in Outlook to work at all. I uminstalled the new version & reinstalled it.
Still I et the message to go to control panel, mail, show profiles, add, new
profile. I go through all of the steps & it still will not go through.

it still will not go through

What will not go through? New Messages? Do you have access to your old
messages still? What kind of error messages do you see?

Is there an Office 2000 item in the Add/Remove Programs list?

I am unable to make the changes that the message tells me to make. It says
"Cannot open default email folders. Create a new profile by double clicking
on the mail icon in control panel. Show profiles, add new profile." When I do
this it does not help. I removed the 2007 version and reloaded it. At that
time the old Outlook was removed from my computer, it is no longer in the
add/remove programs.

Post the exact steps you're using. Saying "it does not help" is not helpful
in diagnosing the problem.

Thank you. I have resolved the problem, but for the benefit of any one that
may have the same problem, I will explain.

I double clicked on the mail icon in the Control Panel, click on show
Profiles, click Add, after creating the new Profile make it the default by
selecting it. then click always use this Profile. The problem seems to have
been that in the final step there are several options. The one that was
displayed was "Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings." This did not work. I had
to use the one that was simply "Outlook." I hope this explains what I have
done.
