Aww rats! I have just updated an NVIDIA driver so not sure if it's related in some way, but after re-booting, this odd window appeared on the desktop! It doesn't have a means of closing the box, and is just sitting there staring back at me with it's odd grammar. :( I have tried Googling, and it doesn't appear to be known as a virus or that kind of thing, in fact, it appears that it might be something to do with the ASUS mobo(?)

Has anyone else experience this please? If so, how the heck can I remove it - or at least get it out of the way? When I open Task Manager, it says ASUS acpi centre is running in Applications. When I looked at Processes, I couldn't find that listed, but did find aaCentre.exe - the two appear to be related(?)

I'd appreciate a bit of guidance if anyone can offer some please... thank you for looking :D

Do you see something in your start up list that doesn't look quite right?

Have a look in your start up list

click on start then msconfig look on the startup tab to see if you can see something abnormal like what you can see right now.

Looks like an overclocking thing.....isn't it Asus that have AI overclocking crap, I mean stuff, with their boards?

must be a **** poor overclocking utility lol

it looks so boring don't it?

Thank you :)

The only things I am not quite certain about, would be the "Reminder app" which is "unknown" (unless it is related to any of my Logitech stuff, which is also listed as being "unknown") or "Update Mgr" also listed as "unknown" .... unless it is also related to the aforementioned Logitech. I've snipped examples for you to take a look. (Sorry it had to be 2 pix, but it the window cannot be dragged to a bigger size.)

Oops sorry Vaio, missed your post - just for clarity, I've not done any overclocking. Lol it does look dull - and it is in the bloomin' way too :wall:

Ahh it's VISTA mmmmmmmmm. It's still a very unconquered operating system for psd99. :)

I can't see anything in there that looks troublesome.

Well if all else fails go back to your old drivers for your graphics card and see if this fixes the problem.

Aarrgh... I'm wondering whether the "optional" driver download might have been the wrong one - I've got GeForce, but I think I've just downloaded nForce..... honestly thinking that Microsoft would know what it was inviting me to download and trusting that they would be correct... Reckon that might be it?

Microsoft correct?

Oh never.

The only time they are correct is when they take your money.

 ... Stupid of me not to have checked more closely before ticking the box. Thank you for helping me, :D

Just an update to let you know that I've just downloaded correct drivers from Nvidia itself ... this time I wanted to be sure!! ;) They have a handy scanner for dummies such as I, which tell you exactly what you need..... that annoying wee box has now disappeared from whence it came! Yay! Many thanks again

Glad it's resolved.
Now may be a good time for you to download drivercleaner.....it can get rid of remnants from unwanted driver installs.

Use with caution though.;)
